23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Before Mass, say:

There are going to be three short stories or readings during Mass today.  See if you can notice when this part is read:

Taking a child, he placed it in their midst,
and putting his arms around it, he said to them,
“Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me” -Mk 9

Who can memorize that verse?  Try it now.  How much of it can you say out loud?  Great!

After Mass ask:

Which of the three readings had the verse we talked about?  What do you think it means?  What other ideas did you have during Mass?  This week, when we see kids, let’s think about how we get to receive Jesus by being around kids!

You can find the text of all the readings for today at USCCB.org
